Step 1: Identify the SAE 90D Flange connection
There are three types of connection which are weld-in (butt weld), threaded BSPP, and threaded NPT.

Weld-In or socket weld is the common welding connection that allowed pipe inserts into a recessed area of SAE 90D Flange.

Threaded BSPP stands for British Standard Parallel Pipe and it maintains a consistent diameter all the way down to the female threaded SAE 90D Flange.

Threaded NPT stands for National Pipe Thread and it is the most common tapered SAE Flange thread used. The male and SAE Flange female threads compress and wedge themselves together. This connection is stronger and leak-resistant as it helps to create better sealing.
Step 2: Identify the SAE 90D Flange material
It is available in Carbon Steel ST52.3 material.
The material is readily weldable low carbon manganese steel with good impact resistance.
It applicable in common standard ground installation such as chemical plants, oil & gas, cranes industry.
Step 3: Identify the SAE 90D Flange series
The SAE 90D Flange series represent the working pressure. Code 61 equals 3000 series and Code 62 equals 6000 series. Code 62 has a bigger flange body compare to code 61 which is measured by pitch circle diameter (PCD). To select the correct flange series, please refer to the working pressure table below:
Step 4: Identify the SAE 90D Flange sizes
For connection SAE 90D Flange with the piping line, measure the pipe outer diameter if the pipe has male threads or no threads. The outer diameter measured from outside edge to outside edge across the pipe. You can refer to the table of pipe size on the right:
The size 3/8 inches to 5 inches or DN10 to DN125 is available under series 3000 and the 6000 series also called Code 62 is available in 3/8 inches to 3 inches.
Step 5: Confirm the SAE 90D Flange quantity
Check the overall piping usage and link up to SAE 90D Flange that required in the overall application. Select the quantity before final order confirmation.
