SAE 90D Flange
SAE 90D Flange is designed for high-pressure applications. The available pressure series for the SAE 90D Flange is 3000 PSI and 6000 PSI. SAE 90D Flanges are made following the ISO 6162 / SAE J518 standards. Flange fittings are connected to flanges to create a connection with more than one flange. There are several flange fittings and an SAE 90D flange is one of these. These flange fittings are available in a variety of sizes ranging between 3/8 inches to 5 inches. Also, SAE 90D Flanges are available in several materials, but they are mostly found in Carbon Steel ST52.3 and Stainless steel AISI 316L materials.
1. What is SAE 90D Flange ?
SAE 90D Flange are connecting devices used for hydraulic applications tools. Flanges are also used for seal connection between the pipes and systems. Sometimes, when setting up a hydraulic application, there is a need for more than a flange in the connection, hence, the need for a flange fitting. An SAE 90D Flange serves as the connecting tool between two pipes or tubes. The need for an SAE 90D Flange is inevitable as the connection surfaces between two separate components can have lapses to allow leakages of liquid process fluids. However, with an SAE 90D Flange, the connection surfaces are perfectly sealed to give a strong and leak-free connection.

SAE 90D Flange is of various types and is used based on the form of need or connection type in the application. The SAE 90D Flange is one of the most uncommon types of flange types. It is designed to withstand high-pressure applications and available in two series (3000 and 6000). These are used in hydraulic systems to ensure a perfect connection between two flanges. The SAE 90D Flange is designed following the international standards SAE J518 and ISO 6162. More specifically, the pressure range is given by the SAE J518 standards.

Another important feature of the SAE 90D Flange is its wide availability in various sizes. The SAE 90D Flange fitting is available in sizes 3/8 inches to 5 inches.
2. What are SAE 90D Flanges made of?
SAE 90D Flanges are made from major Carbon Steel ST52.3 and Stainless Steel AISI 316L materials.
Carbon Steel ST52.3 is a type of steel plate alloy widely used based on its strong and excellent features. This low alloy steel has good flexibility and weldability features with a tensile strength ranging from 490 MPa to 630MPa. More so, the material contains a low amount of carbon and manganese. Despite this, the material has a good resistance ability against temperature. It contains the elements Carbon (C), Manganese (Mn), Phosphorus (P), Silicon (Si), and Sulfur (S).

Stainless Steel AISI 316L material is also referred to as 1.4404. This steel variant has a low carbon content. The L after the 316 figure establishes this. The carbon content in the material is usually less than 0.03. The good quality of this material is its high level of chemical resistance. The elements in the AISI 316L include Carbon (C), Manganese (Mn), Chromium (Cr), Nickel (Ni), Molybdenum (Mo), Nitrogen (N), Phosphorus (P), and Silicon (Si).
3. What are the advantages of SAE 90D Flanges?
One of the major benefits of flange fittings is the ease of connecting the flanges and other components. Especially in areas with small installation spaces and the change in flow direction needed, the SAE 90D Flanges can fit in the connection and also reduces the coverage area.

Furthermore, the use of SAE 90D Flange is very economical as they sometimes eliminate the need for adapters for tubes, nozzles, pipes, etc. during the installation process, SAE 90D Flange ensures the right torque value is attained, thus, reducing the fear of over-tightening or under-tightening.

SAE 90D Flange is available in a variety of sizes and this makes them applicable in many systems. The need for scouting for the perfect size is reduced and they cover a wide range of inches. Also, the use of 90D Flange fittings ensures the easy maintenance, installation, and disassembly of components during routine checks. More importantly, the flange helps reduce the impact of pressure, vibration on the system. With their ability to withstand high pressure, they can work well with heavy-duty machines in systems.
